Adapalene is a topical retinoid used primarily to treat acne by promoting cell turnover and reducing inflammation.

Adapalene works by binding to retinoic acid receptors in the skin, which helps to normalise the shedding of dead skin cells and prevent pores from becoming clogged.

  • Acne Treatment: Reduces the formation of acne lesions and certain types of acne scars.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: Decreases redness and swelling.
  • Anti-ageing: Adapalene can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Improvements can be seen within 4 weeks, with significant results typically appearing after 12 weeks.

Common side effects include dryness, redness, and peeling.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Always read your Uncouth patient information leaflet prior to using your treatment.

Adapalene should not be used during pregnancy whilst breastfeeding.
